The 53-year-old had gone to Stenhouse Place East at about 4.15pm on Sunday, where he picked up the men who directed him to Ford’s Road.

One pulled a knife and demanded cash, before the vehicle stopped in the car park in Ford’s Road near Saughton Park.

Both suspects got into the black 54-plate Volkswagen Passat and drove off. The car was found in Calder Gardens.

The suspects are described as being white, in their early 20s, and spoke with local accents. One of the men was 6ft 1in tall, large build, clean-shaven and was wearing a dark hat.

The other man was skinny, clean-shaven with a black woolly hat, and was wearing a black fleece and jeans.
