Police hunting £8k ring thief

POLICE are out to catch a thief after an £8000 ring was stolen from a Scots home.

The platinum ring, with an emerald inset and diamond baguettes on either side, was taken from a house in Maxwell Road, Dirleton, in East Lothian. A three-figure sum, thought to be just under £1000, was also taken.

The ring, which is said to have “great sentimental” value to the owner, was taken between 7.30pm and 11.20pm on Monday, while the owner of the property was out.
