Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed in Edinburgh.

The incident happened around midday on Monday in the Western Harbour area.

The 37-year-old had just parked his car on the main road and removed his laptop bag from the passenger seat when two men approached from behind. He was pushed to the ground as the men made off with the laptop.

Both suspects are described as being around 5ft 7in tall with a medium build. One was wearing a red hooded top with grey tracksuit bottoms while the other wore a blue hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was in no way hurt during the incident, but was obviously upset at the theft of his laptop.

“Given the time of day, there were potentially a number of people in the area and anyone who saw anything suspicious or who can assist us in identifying those responsible is asked to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131.
