Police officer ‘left with broken eye socket’

A MAN has appeared in court in connection with an incident in which a police officer was allegedly kicked on the head and suffered a broken eye socket.

William McSeveney, from West Calder, was charged with assault to severe injury and two further police assaults

He also faces an allegation that he committed a statutory breach of the peace during the same incident in Polbeth, West Lothian, last weekend.

McSeveney made no plea or declaration during a private hearing on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court.

The 27-year-old was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again for full committal next week.

Co-accused Aimee Bell also from West Calder, was charged with obstructing police officers and breach of the peace.

The 21-year-old made no plea or declaration and was released on bail pending further inquiries.
