Police search for woman in help plea

Police in West Lothian are searching for a woman who may have been the victim of an attack to get in touch.

The woman, in her early 30s, approached a family in Whiteside, near Bathgate, and indicated she needed help.

She was last seen close to the path which runs adjacent to the houses in Whiteside on Friday night. A police spokesman said: “She appeared to be scared and headed in the direction of Bathgate town centre.

“We just want to confirm she is safe and well and urge her or anyone who knows her to contact us on 0131-311 3131.”

The woman, who was last seen on Whiteside Road at about 9.35pm, is white with a pale complexion. She is of slim build, about 5ft 6in tall, with dark shoulder-length hair and spoke with a local accent.

She was wearing a denim stonewashed baseball cap, a dark zipper jacket with a hood and light stone wash jeans and had a blue carrier bag.
