Police seize £175,000 of drugs in city

Four people have been arrested after police recovered drugs worth almost £175,000.

Officers searched properties on Wardieburn Place on Wednesday, seizing heroin with a street value of about £132,000 and £40,000 worth of cocaine. Cannabis with a value of £1,800 and a three-figure sum of cash were also recovered.

A 21-year-old man and three women aged 20, 23 and 54 were due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday charged with drug offences.

Detective inspector Alan O’Brien said: “Once again, our communities have come forward with vital information relating to drug crime resulting in Wednesday’s enforcement activity, which saw the recovery of large quantities of harmful substances.
