Police video issues safety advice to Robbie Williams gig goers

A police message has confirmed that searches will be carried out and armed officers will be station outside and inside Murrayfield during the Robbie Williams concert.

Earlier this week, the Evening News confirmed armed police would be stationed at the concert.

Speaking in a video message, Assistant chief constable Bernard Higgins outlined the security measures that were in place.

He said: “Expect to be searched, there is a significant search operation on.”

He also confirmed that fans “will see firearm officers patrolling the external environment of the stadium”

Gig-goers were also encouraged and reminded not to bring any bags.

Police are urging fans not to be alarmed and reminded them that they are there for the safety of the expected 57,000 crowd.

Police also confirmed that there is no specific intelligence regarding the event, but assured fans that measures were in place to ensure maximum safety.

The stadium will open up at 2pm with fans encouraged to enter the stadium early.
