Robbing duo punch victim on head then steal mobile

A PAIR of teenage muggers assaulted and robbed a man who was texting on his phone as he walked home from a Leith pub.

The 25-year-old victim had left Boda on Leith Walk at around 1.10am yesterday and had turned into Great Junction Street when he was set upon.

The thugs punched him to the head, causing him to fall to the ground, then his phone was stolen.

The victim suffered swelling and bruising to his face and head but did not require hospital treatment. The first suspect is described as white, 17 to 18 years old, 6ft 2in tall with a skinny build, short dark hair and wearing a white top and jeans.

The second suspect is described as white, also 17 to 18 years old, 6ft 2in tall with a skinny build and wearing a dark top and jeans.

A police spokesman said: “This has been a random and opportunistic assault and robbery, which has left a young man with some painful injuries to his face and head.”
