Scottish Referendum journalist ‘mugged’ in Niddrie

AN IRISH radio journalist was repotedly mugged in Edinburgh while covering the referendum.

Philip Boucher Hayes who works for Irish state broadcaster RTE said in a tweet the incident happened in Niddrie.

The BBC reported that he had to hand over his radio recording equipment and then agreed to pay £200 to the muggers to recover it.

He wrote: “Was told I was ‘lucky you’re not English’.”

The radio reporter repotedly said he had “a bruised ego and a sore jaw” but was “grand otherwise”.
