Swinney demands action on economy

FINANCE Secretary John Swinney today demanded urgent measures from the UK Government to boost economic confidence.

At a meeting in Edinburgh of finance ministers from across the UK, he said Chancellor George Osborne should use next month’s autumn statement to announce more money for major infrastructure projects to stimulate the economy.

He said: “An extra £5 billion in capital investment across the UK would allow us to provide an additional stimulus of more than £400 million to support employment in Scotland now.”
