AN exhibition featuring the artwork and poetry of a city primary teacher and her pupils is set to go on display.
In Focus is a collection of portraits, poems, photography and abstract paintings by local artist Jill Ashforth in collaboration with pupils from Corstorphine Primary School.
Jill who has taught at the school for 24 years, felt compelled to inspire her students in the same way she was back in her own schooldays.
She said: “The writing of poetry is something I grew to love when I was a young child at the school and my teacher encouraged me to believe I had a talent for it. I think this is why I feel so excited about showing the work of some of the children I teach.
“It feels appropriate that, as a former pupil of the school where I now teach, I should be encouraging talented young boys and girls in 2012. If I can inspire only one child, I will be content.”
The exhibition opens on Saturday, October 20, and runs until Sunday, October 28, opening daily from noon until 6pm.
