Prisoner made fork into blade

Have your say

A CONVICT made a do-it-yourself knife by breaking the prongs off a prison fork and sharpening it to a point, a court has heard.

Ryan Black was caught as he tried to bring the makeshift plastic weapon, hidden inside his trainers, into Addiewell Prison.

Black appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court from custody yesterday and pleaded guilty to possessing the blade on September 1 last year.

He was jailed for six months by Sheriff Graeme Fleming QC.
