Prosecutor takes lead in fight against football violence

A PUBLIC prosecutor has been appointed to “lead the fight” against football-related violence and disorder.

Faith Millar has been appointed a Football Liaison Prosecutor for the East of Scotland following a success of a pilot scheme in Glasgow.

Solicitor General Lesley Thomson QC has also appointed Barry Dickson for the West of Scotland and Vicki Bell covering the North.

The FLPs will share their expertise with police and work with them to improve the quality of police reports to ensure that a strong case is made to the court to grant a Football Banning Order.

The Solicitor General said: “I am delighted to introduce our team of football liaison prosecutors, who will serve across Scotland to tackle the violence and disorder that can mar our national sport.

“As prosecutors we are dedicated to dealing with this criminal behaviour wherever it may occur.”
