Protest outside Irish consulate in Edinburgh calls for abortion law change

PROTESTERS gathered outside the Irish consulate in Randolph Street demanding the right to legal abortions in Ireland.

The demonstration, part of a day of action at Irish embassies across the world, called for an immediate law change.

It followed the death of Savita Halappanavar, who was denied a termination campaigners claim would have saved her. Organiser Sinead Daly said women in Ireland should have the right to free, safe abortions.
