Protesters to target square

DEMOCRACY protesters were set to stage an “occupation” of St Andrew Square today as part of an international demonstration.

Groups were expected to meet up in St Andrew Square at 1pm today, as people around the world took to the streets for a day of action against austerity measures.

The protest is targeted at cuts to public services taking place in countries around the world as a result of the global economic crisis. Organisers in Edinburgh said they would be demanding “true democracy” from the coalition government.
