Pupils aim to go out with a bang at science contest

MORE than 20 pupils from George Heriot’s School are set to compete in a national science and engineering competition.

The pupils, who have investigated everything from locusts to boy-versus-girl reaction times, will take part in The Big Bang Scotland on June 12. Assistant principal teacher of biology at the school, Andrew Ramage, said: “As a school, we have entered groups and attended The Big Bang over a number of years as it has always been a fantastic experience for the pupils.

“They get to see how scientists exchange ideas and can explore the exhibits with their peers, while getting a feel for the huge range of topics that science offers.

“Those who take part get to meet real scientists and see how they work.”
