Pupils asked for help in naming community hub

PUPILS are being urged to help name a new £5.7 million community facility for their area.

Edinburgh Western SNP MSP Colin Keir has written to schools in the Drumbrae and Clermiston area, asking them for suggestions for what has so far been referred to as the Drumbrae community hub.

The centre, which is due to open early next year, will include a library, a daycare centre for older people, an adult learning facility, community information and access points and a health information point.

A council consultation has produced some ideas deemed unsuitable, such as Lisa’s Library or Dinosaur Centre, as well Drumbrae Library or Clermiston or Cleri Library or The Hub.

Users of the day centre have already said they want their part of the building to be named the Stevenson Centre.

Mr Keir said: “We need to give the community of Drumbrae and Clermiston full ownership of this project which is why they should be involved in the naming process.”
