Pupils get into the True Spirit of film for premiere

BUDDING filmmakers got a taste of the red-carpet treatment when they arrived by limousines at the Filmhouse for the premiere of a movie they produced.

The comedy, called True Spirits, tells the story of a young American girl who flees the bright lights of Los Angeles – and her famous mother – for the unfamiliar terrain of Dirleton, East Lothian.

It was produced and funded entirely by pupils from Dirleton Primary School. Headteacher Sarah Ogden said: “The world premiere of the school film took place at the Filmhouse with our pupils dressed in their best dresses and kilts, with parents and friends keen to see the movie.

“Everybody had a great time and thought the movie was well made and very funny. Our pupils did a huge sponsored orienteering challenge to raise funds for the project and, of course, as at every film premiere, there was a reception afterwards.”
