Race turns up the volume

Runners were today making their final preparations ahead of tomorrow’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon.

The 13-mile run, the first of its kind in the UK, will see about 5000 runners pounding the city’s streets.

Helping them prepare, the world-renowned Red Hot Chilli Pipers were performing this afternoon at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Fitness Festival, held in Holyrood Park.

Runners gathered at lunchtime to limber up for tomorrow’s big day.

The festival also saw performances from Edinburgh band, The Asps.

Shannon Davis, events and marketing manager of the festival, said: “It’s a great day out.

“It gives people a taste of what to expect on Sunday as 5000 runners get ready to rock through the city.”
