Radiographers recognise Anne-Marie’s achievements

A HEALTH professional has won an illustrious award in recognition of her life-long commitment to patients.

Anne-Marie Nisbet, a radiographer and expert in chest radiology at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, has been named radiographer of the year for Scotland by her professional body and will receive the award at a glittering ceremony at the Houses of Commons next month.

“Even at the age of 66, her enthusiasm for her work is never-ending,” said Janet Palmer, who nominated Anne-Marie for the prize given by the Society of Radiographers. “She is always there to give out advice and guidance.”

Using her lifetime of experience working with the cardio-thoracic and respiratory teams, Anne-Marie has helped set up an innovative fast-track service for suspect lung lesions seen on chest X-rays in order to improve the speed at which patients receive treatment.

“Her expertise is not only appreciated by her departmental colleagues, but by the whole interdisciplinary team,” Janet added.

“We are all indebted to Anne-Marie for her knowledge and the enthusiasm for her work.”

Anne-Marie, who ensures the standards of images are of the highest level, is never one to stand still.

She now teaches chest X-ray interpretation to students and nurse practitioners, a role previously carried out by consultant radiologists.
