A RALLY outside Holyrood this week aims to convince the government to do more to combat climate change.
The event hopes to send a message to local MSPs to pressure Holyrood to do more to help Scotland meet its commitment to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
To make sure their MSPs know how strongly they feel about this issue, concerned residents will attend a “mass lobby” at the Scottish Parliament at 12.45pm on Thursday.
The event is being organised by Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS) with the aim of bringing MSPs face-to-face with their constituents.
A recent report highlighted that Scotland has missed its first target to cut greenhouse gas emissions. SCCS believes this could make meeting its environmental commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 42 per cent by 2020 – as outlined in the country’s world-leading Climate Change (Scotland) Act – even more difficult.
