Ranting knife thug jailed

A THUG who shouted abuse and threatened bar staff with a knife has been jailed for 12 months.

Tommy Hood, 26, lost the plot after being refused a drink at Benson’s Bar in Edinburgh’s Dalry Road on July 17, 2011.

The city’s sheriff court heard how Hood was drunk when workers knocked him back for one last drink at closing time.

He then launched a foul-mouthed tirade at a barmaid before flashing a blade at her.

Hood pleaded guilty to knife possession and breach of the peace charges on Tuesday.
