A MAN who raped a cleaner at a house-warming party was behind bars today.

A trial heard how the 20-year-old was asleep on a sofa when Callum McDonald pulled her on to a mattress on the floor and began trying to take off her trousers.

When the woman awoke, McDonald, 21, ignored her protests and forced himself on her at the house in Corstorphine on October 27, 2011.

McDonald of Deanswood Park, Deans, Livingston, denied rape but a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh found him guilty, unanimously.

Judge Lady Scott called for background reports and remanded McDonald in custody.

He is due to be formally sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow next month.
