THE royal blue furnishings in the Kinellan Restaurant are in keeping with the royalty which head chef, James McQuade has cooked for over his culinary career of 30 years.
His royal line-up includes the Queen, Prince Phillip and Princess Anne, while on the celebrity front, James has served up his tasty feasts for the likes of Billy Connolly, Ronnie Corbett and Bruce Forsyth.
Diners at the Kinellan, part of the Ellersly House Hotel in Murrayfield, can expect freshly prepared, Scottish cuisine adapted in line with whatever seasonal produce is available.
At lunchtime, diners can enjoy the likes of chicken liver paté with toasted brioche and summer leaves as a starter (£4.25), roast pork loin with Stornoway black pudding mash (£8.95) or breaded haddock, chips and pea puree (£6.95) for mains through to lemon tart with fresh raspberries (£3.95) for dessert.
The dinner menu includes dishes such as haggis-filled supreme of chicken, chive mash, roast turnip and whisky cream (£9.95) through to pan-fried duck breast on puy lentils with fondant potato (£14.95) and salmon fillet with wild mushroom, dauphinoise potato and asparagus (£11.95). And for dessert, there is an excellent New York-style cheesecake (£3.95).
The Kinellan’s bosses say that they pride themselves on the restaurant’s “calm ambience, fine dining and warm hospitality” and say they offer “four-star service at three star prices”.
A new children’s play area has also just been created at the restaurant.
