Robber stole mail bags

A THIEF made off with a bag of post and two Royal Mail jackets after raiding a postman’s car parked in the street.

A 34-year-old postman parked his car in West Pilton Avenue and returned to find his vehicle had been broken into and the jackets and mail stolen.

The theft took place between 11.30am and 12.45pm on Tuesday. A police spokesman said: “These items have no significant financial value. However, the mail could be of a personal nature and the clothing may allow the suspect to pose as a Royal Mail employee.

“Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the West Pilton Avenue area on Tuesday morning is asked to contact police immediately.”
