Rowling warns fans that she will never write another Potter book

JK ROWLING has said she’d rather write unpopular books than spend the rest of her life writing about wizards.

In her only public appearance in Scotland this year, the Harry Potter author said she would never return to the children’s series.

Speaking at Lennoxlove Book Festival in East Lothian, she told of how her experiences as a teacher and her husband’s medical work influenced her latest book The Casual Vacancy.

Interviewed by Muriel Gray, she spoke in front of a sold-out audience of hundreds. When Gray asked the audience for a show of hands if they had read her latest book, only around a third raised their hands.

Rowling said: “I mean this from my heart and soul, but I would rather spend the rest of my career writing books I love but others don’t love so much than trying to repeat something I’ve already done.”
