Rubbish piles up in city centre

WITH the curtain coming down on another fantastic Fringe, jaws dropped around one of the city’s busiest streets as mountains of bagged rubbish was seen piling up outside Merchant’s Hall.

As seen in this image captured earlier today, the front of Hanover Street landmark was clogged with bag-loads of litter as two festival-goers are pictured chatting behind it.

It comes as an army of more than 70 litter-pickers were recruited to clear up the city during the busy August season when the population of the city is said to more than double.

Has the city been looking its best during the Festival bonanza or have we failed to show our best side?
