Hundreds of runners took part in the Edinburgh 2015 Meadows Marathon this morning, with competitors braving some extremely unpleasant weather in the morning to take part.
Runners faced hailstones and strong winds in the morning, although the sun did come out towards the end. The event featured a full marathon, half marathon, 10k run and 5k Fun Run to ensure as many people as possible could take part.
More than 500 people had signed up to take part in this year’s event, which is often used as training for the Edinburgh and London marathons by serious runners. Organisers are had a costume competition for best dressed team.
The main focus was fundraising for charity partners ranging from local charities working with disadvantaged children in Edinburgh to international crisis charities.
