Rush-hour smash at Crewe Toll leaves one person in hospital

COMMUTERS faced delays after a two-car smash at rush-hour this afternoon left one person in hospital.

Police and ambulance crews were scrambled to the Crewe Toll roundabout after the alarm was raised shortly after 4.15pm.

Evening commuters faced delays on the busy Ferry Road as medics attended the scene.

One casualty was taken to the Royal Infirmary for treatment where their condition is unknown.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a road collision involving two vehicles at Crewe Toll roundabout around 4.16pm.

“One person was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where they are being treated for their injuries. Inquiries are ongoing at this time.”

A spokesman for Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received reports of a two car RTC at the Crewe Toll roundabout around 4.16pm.

“We initially dispatched two ambulances to the scene although one of them was stood down.
