Sale lays foundations for building houses

Two housebuilders have snapped up a development site in West Lothian.

Taylor Wimpey and Bellway have completed the purchase of the Armadale Station development in West Lothian from site developer SDA.

The sale will free the housebuilders to create up to 180 houses, while developer contributions will be used to boost primary school education, including a proposed new primary school in Armadale.

Work has also got under way on a new Asda supermarket, which is expected to be 40,000 square feet and create 150 jobs.

The delivery of a new primary school in Armadale is one of seven projects seeking support from West Lothian Council.

Sandra Carter, from the Armadale Station development, said: “We are delighted.”
