Lieutenant Colonel Alan Burns, Scotland secretary, said: “The Salvation Army demonstrates our belief by changing people’s lives within communities.

“ROOTS Scotland saw hundreds of our members from across the country being challenged to take action and help people living in poverty.

“They were also asked to see how we can change the minds of those within the broader society on issues of social justice, so that everyone can play their part.”

The ROOTS event has taken place in Southport for many years.
