POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a schoolboy was hit by a van in Gorebridge.

The 13-year-old was rushed to the ERI after the accident outside the Scotmid store in the town’s Hunterfield Road, just before 8am on Thursday.

PC Paul Brownlee, who is leading the inquiry, said: “I am appealing to any drivers or pedestrians who were in the area at this time and saw the boy being knocked down to contact Police Scotland on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“The area would have been busy at this time of day with people using the shop or preparing to go to work and school, and there are likely to be a number of people who witnessed this accident.”
