A SCHOOLBOY has been inspired to tackle Britain’s tallest peaks by the death of an Edinburgh mountaineer.

Liam Keat, from Inverawe, Argyll, is spending a fortnight trudging all over Lake District peaks and Scottish mountains, including Ben Nevis, to raise more than £1000 for Oban Mountain Rescue Team.

The eight-year-old decided to take on the challenge after becoming friends with the grandson of Alexander Sproule, who died while descending Ben Cruachan last year.
