Sci-fi visions blast off at storytelling centre stage

A NIGHT of science fiction stories is to take place in the Capital next month.

The Black Firmament event will go ahead at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on November 4.

It has been devised by the newly formed Edinburgh Science Fiction Forever Theatre company, which is the country’s only group dedicated to portraying sci-fi stories.

The event, based around the theme of space travel, examines the different perceptions and experiences of people on board a spaceship as the era of space tourism finally arrives. A spokesman for the group said: “It’s a rare opportunity to see sci-fi on stage.”

Tickets are priced £6 and £4, with the show starting at 7pm. For more information visit www.escf8.org

And to coincide with the unique piece of theatre there will be a special event on November 3, at 7.30pm.

This will see storytellers examine the question of where the universe came from, bringing together astrophysicists and creative writers to communicate some of the most complex ideas of our age.
