Scots history ‘lost on web’

SCOTTISH history is disappearing down a digital “black hole” and being lost forever, the National Library of Scotland (NLS) has warned.

The Capital-based NLS said the internet revolution means that key aspects of Scottish life now appears online.

However, it said there was no current system for preserving this type of information and there was evidence some of it was disappearing forever.

National librarian Martyn Wade said: “It is vital that we get the powers we need to save the nation’s digital memory for future generations.”
