paralympian swimmer Sean Fraser was among the sporting talent recognised at the Midlothian Sports Awards.

Prizes were presented to winners including Sean, who won senior sports personality, Loanhead Miners YFC’s Tony Begg, who won coach of the year, and karate instructor Hamish Adam for his service to local sport.

Bonnyrigg Rose football club took the senior team award.

Sean said: “It means a lot to me to win any award, but I am humble and it is a real honour to be recognised locally.

“Competing in the Games was a dream come true and it has been a fantastic year – one I will never forget. I would also like to thank my mum and dad who have supported me throughout my career and taught me to swim at an early age.”

Midlothian Council’s deputy leader, Councillor Owen Thompson, said: “I would like to congratulate all the Midlothian Sports Awards 2012 winners.”
