SFT in £500m benefit vow

THE firm behind the new Sick Kids hospital has vowed to benefit the public purse by £500 million over the next five years.

The Scottish Futures Trust will work with NHS Lothian to pay for and deliver the £250m facility at Little France.

Changing the funding formula to the untested SFT has already caused lengthy delays and experts have suggested the health board could end up paying more than three times the amount for the hospital.

Barry White, SFT chief executive, said: “SFT is well positioned to be the catalyst for change.”
