She said: “My highlight of the course has definitely been the progression from learning to study again to feeling confident in my own ability to produce good quality pieces of work.
“The social activities I attended as a result were also incredibly enjoyable and helped me settle down in Scotland.”
Ms Garande will study social policy and sociology at Edinburgh University.
She added: “Studying full-time with a part-time job was challenging, but the college was very supportive and accommodating.”
