Six-fold rise in speeding

More than six times as many drivers as normal were caught speeding over the Easter holidays on one stretch of road near the Forth Replacement Crossing.

Lothian and Borders Safety Camera Partnership, which operates average speed cameras in Kirkliston, said 280 vehicles were nabbed over Easter.

The partnership’s Victoria Edmond said: “I’m really surprised to see such an increase in the number of people breaking the speed limit.”
