Sparkling ideas in tune with market

PUPILS from Balerno High School were celebrating after sweeping the board at the Lothian Young Enterprise Awards.

Two enterprises – Breaking Records and Pearllery – scooped four awards between them.

Breaking Records moulded vinyl into clocks while Pearllery fashioned jewellery from freshwater pearls.

Team captains, Lindy Macfarlane and Dominic Simmons, both 17, and their teams are enjoying their success ahead of the next round of the competition in Glasgow.

Headteacher Graeme Sives said: “I am delighted that Balerno’s businesses have done so well.”
