Springboard into work for city’s youth

School and college-leavers in the Capital who are unsure about career plans will have the opportunity to “try before they buy” this summer.

Springboard Summer Schools has opened its first Scottish centre, after ten years of work south of the Border.

It comes highly recommended, with 80 per cent of former participants either finding employment, being offered an apprenticeship or returning to education.

Students attending in the first week will also come away with recognised industry qualifications in food safety, health and safety and customer care.

Education convener Councillor Paul Godzik said: “A successful tourism and hospitality industry is vital for Edinburgh, as is investment in young talent.

“This new Summer School is great news for school-leavers and the city as a whole.”
