BENEDICT Cumberbatch has emailed out wedding invitations amid speculation he and Sophie Hunter will get hitched at St Giles Cathedral.
It is thought the Oscar-nominated actor, 38, is in a hurry to get married after the next Academy Awards on February 22 but before Ms Hunter, 36, gives birth, expected to be in early summer.
And the Sherlock star and his theatre director fiancee are reportedly keen to tie the knot in Edinburgh as Ms Hunter’s mother, Katherine, lives in the city.
There was speculation that the pair may choose to wed at St Giles Cathedral, after the pair attended the Christmas Day service at the church.
However, the minister of St Giles, Calum MacLeod, yesterday said he had not been approached by the couple.
Mr Cumberbatch and Ms Hunter have been spotted in Edinburgh several times since their relationship became public last autumn.
A source close to the actor said: “The invitations have gone out already. It’s shocked a few people but they want their special day to happen before they have the baby.”
