INSurance giant Standard Life – which has its headquarters in Edinburgh – has announced it will open its first office in Singapore.

The move comes as the company focuses on “high value” emerging markets in Asia with bosses saying it will allow them to target wealthy individuals.

Nathan Parnaby, chief executive for Asia and emerging markets at Standard Life, said: “Singapore is a large and respected financial centre and we are committed to building a successful business from there.”
