Step up for a challenge

HUNDREDS of workers in the Capital are taking part in the Walk at Work Step Count Challenge.

The scheme encourages employees to use a pedometer to count and record the number of steps they take each day.

They submit their totals to team captains, who then submit a collective total to organisers.

Carl Greenwood, development officer for Paths for All, said: “The Walk at Work Step Count Challenge was incredibly successful across Scotland in 2011 and more than 2000 people saw real benefits.

“Walking makes a big difference to personal health and wellbeing, and a physically active workforce has been proven to take 27 per cent fewer sick days and have higher morale.”

The challenge runs until April 27. For more information see www.pathsforall.org.uk
