The strongest winds are expected between 9pm and midnight, with very strong winds forecast to continue into Tuesday morning. Inspections may be required before the bridge reopens.

Car drivers are advised to check the conditions before travel and adjust their travel plans as required.

Public transport is likely to be affected, with winds forecast to be stronger than the level at which buses would be permitted to cross from approximately 12 noon onwards.

The bridge is expected to be closed most of Tuesday, and will remain closed to HGVs while repairs to the truss end links continue.
