Story behind wall is the stone cold truth

THE outer wall of the Scottish Parliament gets some close attention to mark the launch of a new information leaflet by the Lothian and Borders Geoconservation group.

The group’s Mike Browne, left, was joined by Iain Rennick, from Scottish Natural Heritage, to examine a piece of Caithness flagstone and the panel in the Canongate wall which is made from it.

The pair were there to mark the launch of a new Scottish Natural Heritage funded leaflet about the stones in the Canongate Wall – telling the story behind its construction, where its rocks came from and the inscriptions that decorate them.
