Stuart’s double dip makes history

stuart Drysdale had the new Royal Commonwealth Pool all to himself as he made history for a second time.

The 59-year-old was the first member of the public through the doors of the revamped “Commie” – just like he was when it first opened in 1970. He turned up at 10am yesterday morning, this time well aware of the importance of the occasion.

He hadn’t realised the significance of the original feat at the time, more than 40 years ago, which he recalled as as “just another day”. After a star-studded opening ceremony on Tuesday, featuring former Olympic champion David Wilkie, the pool was opened to paying customers yesterday for the first time following its £37 million, three-year overhaul.
