Success by degrees on Facebook

One of Scotland’s largest independent colleges is ahead in the social networking popularity stakes – boasting the highest number of Facebook followers, for a Scottish institution.

Edinburgh’s Telford College has gained more than 3000 Facebook followers thanks to the efforts of staff who have worked hard to provide an interactive outlet for learners to communicate.

In addition, 3422 people have clicked the “like” button on the page set up by staff at the college, allowing them to connect with learners and tutors and gain full access to all features of the Facebook page, including a dedicated discussion board.

Miles Dibsdall OBE, principal at Telford College, said: “I’m very excited about the success of our Facebook page. It continues to grow in popularity at a rapid pace, which is fantastic for creating a buzz around the college.”
