Swimming pool has always ensured super splashing great time

one of the most advanced diving facilities in the UK, although an aerial view from 1969 shows that the basic shape of the venue has remained the same, sitting underneath the impressive sight of Arthur’s Seat.

That same year saw the facility inspected by the Edinburgh Civic Amenities Committee visit the new swimming pool to ensure it would be ready for the Games the following year.

One of the biggest changes at the pool was the construction of water flumes in 1988, and the addition proved incredibly popular – Lee 
McKendry, 11, was awarded a teddy bear in April 1989 after becoming the millionth person to ride the flumes.

And as well as swimming the pool has played host to a wide range of events, including pass the parcel in the pool as part of the Capital Knock-Out held there in November 1977.
