Sympathy for dead motorist

A CONSERVATION charity cleared of failing to maintain a tree which collapsed and killed a van driver has offered its “deepest sympathies” to his family.

Alex McDonald, 25, died in February 2008 in Whitburn, West Lothian. The Woodland Trust was told it had no case to answer on Tuesday after being charged with breaching health and safety laws.

It said: “We are very satisfied that the court has found that we had no case to answer.”
